Overview of Dept./Division:
This is newly formed IT Department of the Staten Island Railway, a subsidy of New York City Transit. Project work will be performed across the SIR sites. This Department is responsible for implementing IT solutions in coordination with TIS along with troubleshooting and maintenance of all SIR IT equipment and software environment.
To assist with resolving end-users help request in a timely manner, software/hardware inventory management, preparing/updating documentations, coordinating with project work, troubleshooting software-related issues, deployment/maintenance of IT equipment, applying tags, markings, bar codes etc. for tracking, developing database to incorporate findings; will require site visits and lifting / moving / organizing of items / IT equipment.
Special Qualifications or Background Needed:
Some of the intended qualifications include, but not limited to, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good customer service and follow up skills, knowledge and experience with Windows 7, XP and DOS; Computer Applications such as MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project; Tools such as command-line utility, anti-virus software (McAfee); experience/familiarity with Windows Networking technologies, experience/familiarity with HP, Dell, and Microsoft tablet/notebook and desktop systems, experience/familiarity with configuring/troubleshooting Smart Phones such as Blackberry, iPhones, etc. The selected student must be available at least 20-28 hours per week within normal departmental operating hours 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Monday thru Friday.
